For use where an S-Video signal needs to be connected to a Scart-equipped TV Monitor, typically in an A/V system using a separate surround sound amplifier. Or with the addition of stereo audio, for connection to Scart-equipped TV or S-VHS video recorder. This cable is directional. Signal directions must be followed as indicated on the RCA Phono/S-Video connectors. Signals travel from the RCA Phonos/S-Video connectors to the Scart plug.
Applications include:
A/V amplifier S-Video output to (S-Video compatible) TV monitor/projector, DVD player S-Video output to (S-Video compatible), TV monitor/projector.

The Scart standard provides for a wide variety of connections to be made between A/V products and is often the only way to connect at "RGB" levels. R.G.B. stands for red, green, blue, the component colours of the original recording medium. Maintaining this standard of connection throughout, be it from the simple connection of a D.V.D. player to a T.V. or a full-blown Home Theatre system, ensures that the potential for the best picture quality is maintained

Apart from the physical convenience of a "single" connection, Scart also provides for numerous other connections, some of which permit features such as operation via on-screen menu and Auto-tune functions in conjunction with video tape recorders, and automatic aspect ratio switching from wide-screen to normal. These automatic functions are not possible using separate cables.
